A concerned citizen phoned 911 after a precarious encounter while on his morning commute to work. According to a police report, the commuter,”…was heading into town when he saw a man and seven women dragging large sacks by the side of the highway.” The commuter then pulled over to see if he could be of assistance. When he approached the group he was quite astonished with what he found.

The police report details very unusual behavior. “Each woman had claimed to be the man’s wife during different points of the conversation.” When the commuter asked what the group was carrying, one woman revealed that the sacks held, ” …a multitude of cats and kits.” The combination of kits, cats, sacks and “wives” all added up to one very strange situation. The commuter wished the group well, got back into his vehicle and continued on his way. When the group had safely disappeared from his rear-view mirror, the commuter then pulled over and called the police.

Officials believe that the group may be operating in connection with an illegal cat trafficking ring. Police are trying to determine how many people in total make the same commute into St. Ives for a better account of the incident.

I don’t know why, but all of a sudden I can’t get “Cat Scratch Fever” out of my head…

Aha! From the first I heard of this situation, I /thought/ I smelled a rat! …or maybe that’s a whiff of kitty litter.
