The Easter Bunny will not travel to Australia this year after contract negotiations broke down early this week. In a somewhat controversial move, a replacement has been found in the native Australian marsupial, Bilby.

It has been reported that the Easter Bunny increased his delivery fee by over 50% however there are reports he may be suffering ailing health and can no longer handle the long-haul travel.

In a statement released by the Easter Bunny, he expressed disappointment at the developments. “All I wanted to do was deliver chocolate to the kids of the world. My prices have increased tenfold on this job, and well, someone has to pay,” he said.

The almost extinct nocturnal Bilby was surprised and somewhat relieved by getting the call. “We’ve been campaigning for the gig now for a good 50 years and it’s great to see that pest rabbit finally replaced,” Bilby said.

The Easter Bunny will still deliver chocolate eggs to children in the Northern Hemisphere.

The Bilby looks like a Tim Burton movie Easter bunny.

Thank God. I thought you were going to say Easter Bunny Scissorhands, which sounds really horrible.

Anything but “The Bilby Barber of Fleet Street”.
